Video of the Week: Dr. Jerod Loeb on Patient-Centered Care

Jerod M. Loeb, Ph.D., is Executive Vice President for Healthcare Quality Evaluation at The Joint Commission in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.  During his more than 15 years at the commission, Dr. Loeb has played a leadership role in identifying, evaluating and implementing performance measures across the wide variety of Joint Commission accreditation and certification programs. He is involved in a variety of national and international initiatives associated with performance measurement and patient safety, including those of the National Quality Forum, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the International Society for Quality in Health Care and the World Health Organization.

Dr. Bridget Duffy on Patient-Centered Care

 

M. Bridget Duffy, MD, is a consultant to healthcare organizations throughout the country and currently a part of the team guiding the development of the Heart-Brain Institute at the Cleveland Clinic. As a member of the steering committee, Dr. Duffy is developing innovative delivery models for medical technology and creating a leadership institute dedicated to training the next generation of America’s healthcare leaders. Prior to this role, Dr. Duffy served as medicaldirector for Medtronic, Inc., in Minneapolis, Minn., where she led the development and implementation of patient-centered chronic disease initiatives, physician education and leadership programs that sought to foster the convergence of information, technology and a humanistic delivery of that care. In this capacity she identified and funded nationally recognized healthcare institutions and physician leaders who were committed to change the face of chronic disease management.

Jennie Chin Hansen on Patient-Centered Care

Jennie Chin Hansen is one of this country’s leading advocates for person-centered care. She was named CEO of the American Geriatrics Society in March 2010. Prior to that she served for two years as the president of AARP. A Senior Fellow at the Center for the Health Professions of the University of California at San Francisco, she is also a board member of the National Academy of Social Insurance, the Scan Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurses Fellows Program. She took her bachelor’s degree at Boston College and her master’s degree in nursing at UC-SF.
