Samuel C. Fleming

Samuel C. Fleming is chairman emeritus of Decision Resources Inc., a leading provider of strategic information to the global biopharmaceutical, medical device and health insurance industries. From 1990 through 2003, he served as the chairman and chief executive officer of the firm. Earlier, he was a senior vice president and member of the management group of Arthur D. Little, Inc., and president of Arthur D. Little Decision Resources, which he founded. Mr. Fleming received a B.Ch.E. from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

Mr. Fleming’s current activities focus on the impact of the life sciences revolution on health care. He is president of Briland LLC, which specializes in health care investments. In addition to the Picker Institute, he is active on a number of boards: Cornell University, where he is a vice chairman, an Overseer of the Weill Cornell Medical College and chairman of the Cornell Life Science Advisory Board; the Commonwealth Fund; the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary; and, from 1996 to 2007, CareGroup Inc., a Harvard Medical School-affiliated health network that includes the New England Baptist Hospital, where he was chairman.
